The new tariff policy may affect the UAE board import market

It is understood that starting from July 19th, the United Arab Emirates will impose a tariff of 500 dirhams/ton (136 US dollars/ton) on imported color coated rolls, valid until May 14, 2021. The main supplier of color coated coil materials in the United Arab Emirates is China.
As early as April 2018, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) established safeguard measures for imported color coated galvanized (PPGI) or color coated coils with a width greater than 600 millimeters.
Market insiders indicate that the tax for the first year is $169 per ton, the tax for the second year is $153 per ton, and the tax for the third year is $137 per ton. This policy is only applicable in Saudi Arabia and Oman.
In October 2019, Gulf Cooperation Council countries conducted a survey on safeguard measures for several types of steel. The survey covers the period from January 2014 to June 2019, with a focus on hot rolled sheet metal, steel bars, coil screws, profiles, and seamless pipes.
The Technical Secretariat for Anti Dumping (TSAIP) of the Gulf Cooperation Council will hold a public hearing on July 21, planning to implement safeguard measures for some imported steel products.
